Genoa Football Club ~ Days Out

The stadium of Genoa - 'Stadio Luigi Ferraris' is probably most memorable amongst fans from the World Cup in 1990 held in Italy. It is the oldest founded football team in Italy, founded in 1893 and for this reason alone it attracts numerous visitors each year - not only on match days but throughout the year too. 'Il Grifone Rossoblu' or 'The Blue Griffin' being the nickname has a long history and Championship winners nine times, but sadly not since the 1920's however they were the first winners of the league in the year it commenced in 1898. Another fact most people are unaware of is that Genoa became the first Italian football team to play an international match, when they visited France on 27 April 1903 to play against Nice.
